Hezbollah announced on Sunday that they have initiated strikes against Israel in retaliation for the killing of their top military commander, Fu’ad Shukr, along with other casualties, including women and children, in the same strike. The group stated that these attacks are in response to the incident that took place last month.

The strikes coincide with the day of Arbaeen, a significant day for Shia Muslims marking the end of a 40-day mourning period that begins with Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hussain ibn Ali.

Israel confirmed on July 30 that they had conducted a drone strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a densely populated area and Hezbollah's stronghold, resulting in the death of Fu’ad Shukr, the most senior military official of Hezbollah.

In their statement, Hezbollah emphasized their readiness and determination to defend against any Israeli aggression. They warned of severe consequences if civilians are harmed, stating that the punishment will be harsh and decisive.
