The leader of Hezbollah has issued a warning that the militant group will retaliate following the killing of its commander in an Israeli strike in Beirut, Lebanon. Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, stated in a speech on Thursday that the group will definitely respond to avenge the death of their commander.
Nasrallah emphasized that the response from Hezbollah is not just a possibility but a certainty. He stated, 'The enemy, and those behind our enemy, should wait for our definite response. There is no discussion or debate. We are looking for a real response, not a symbolic one.'
The threat of retaliation comes after the funeral for Fu’ad Shukr, who was killed in the Israeli strike. Israel had accused Shukr of being responsible for a deadly attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, a claim that Nasrallah denied, stating that Hezbollah was not behind the assault.
The recent escalation in tensions also saw the killing of two high-ranking officials of Iranian-backed groups, adding to the regional turmoil amid Israel's conflict in Gaza.
