Following Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah's stronghold in Lebanon, a sense of eerie calm has descended over the Lebanese capital. The airstrikes targeted the southern suburbs, resulting in the death of Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, along with several top commanders and officials. The attacks have also claimed the lives of many civilians.

Despite more than 24 hours passing since Nasrallah's death, a funeral has not been scheduled, deviating from Islamic tradition. Additionally, Hezbollah has not appointed a new secretary general, leaving the organization in a state of uncertainty.

The impact of the airstrikes has been profound, with Lebanon witnessing significant casualties and displacements. Lebanese authorities report nearly 1,100 deaths and around 1 million displaced individuals due to Israel's bombardment campaign. In response to rocket attacks from Hezbollah, Israel intensified its offensive, leading to further displacement in both Lebanon and northern Israel.

Hezbollah has vowed to continue its border rocket fire until the end of Israel's offensive in Gaza. The devastation in Lebanon is evident, particularly in the densely populated southern suburbs, which now lie in ruins. Displaced individuals have sought refuge in relatively untouched areas of the capital, setting up makeshift shelters in parks, schools, and religious buildings.
