Heung-min Son has suggested he will be ready to return for Tottenham when they play Brentford on Boxing Day.
South Korea crashed out of the World Cup after losing 4-1 to Brazil last night and Son is set to take a short break before returning to Spurs ahead of the return of the Premier League.
Son wore a protective mask at the World Cup after fracturing his eye socket last month and has said he is ready to do the same to make himself available for Tottenham.
“The Premier League is on a break, so I think I should return as soon as possible and will need to play with my mask on,” Son told Korean newspaper JoongAng Daily after last night’s defeat to Brazil.
“I was born to play football and I am a professional footballer so it’s only right to continue to play even with my mask on.
“Although I wish I could recover quickly and play without the mask. I will have to discuss those matters with my doctor.”
Having captained his country at a World Cup, an emotional Son added: “Before coming to the World Cup, I said that I wanted to make this World Cup unforgettable. The team and Korean fans have made this World Cup unforgettable.”
