A man who had supplied heroin to another man at a house in Bridge of Allan was this week jailed for two years.
Alan Smeaton had admitted a charge of being concerned in the supply of the class-A drug at the Lyon Crescent property between May 12 and 18 last year.
Not guilty pleas to charges of offering to supply cocaine and benzodiazepine to another at Springkerse House had been accepted by the Crown.
The 42-year-old appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday via videolink from Low Moss Prison.
His agent Ken Dalling told Sheriff Keith O’Mahony that his client, who had been remanded in custody in July 2022, had now served the equivalent of an 18-month sentence.
Smeaton’s guilty plea had been tendered at “a relatively early stage.”
His record of offending was drug-related and the accused was receiving support from his family, the lawyer added.
Sheriff O’Mahony noted that Smeaton had a number of previous convictions under the Misuse of Drugs Act and sentenced him to 24 months’ imprisonment backdated to July 11, 2022.
