Hermes expects to process more than three million parcels by the end of January with the vast majority of these being unwanted Christmas presents returned to bug name high street retailers.
Research by the courier found that millennials are the most likely to send back unwanted festive gifts, with 37 per cent of Hermes’ returns being sent by those aged 25 to 34. It also discovered that women are more likely to send things back than men, with 56 per cent of returns compared to 44 per cent.
It has also released deadline dates to help make sure your unwanted Christmas items arrive in time for most UK store returns deadlines at the end of the month - you can take returns to your closest Hermes ParcelShop or arrange a Hermes courier collection.
Hermes UK returns deadlines
- 12pm on Tuesday, January 25: Last day to send a standard delivery parcel from Hermes ParcelShop or locker
- 12pm on Friday, January 28: Last day to send a next-day delivery parcel from Hermes ParcelShop or locker
- January 24: Last day for Hermes courier collection
Commenting on the importance of prompt returning of packages this month, Rosalind Hunt, Director of E-commerce at Hermes, said: “January is one of our busiest periods of the year, and if 2021 is anything to go by, we’re fully expecting to be handling more than 100,000 return parcels a day, with the vast majority being sent back to major retailers across the UK. Our team will be working tirelessly to make sure that customers can swap their festive presents for something more suitable.
“To make returning gifts easier than ever, we’ve created a step-by-step guide that customers can use to make sure that parcels are being sent simply and in good time. There are plenty of options to choose from, including ParcelShops, Courier collections and more than 1,900 locker locations.”
