The leader of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 has announced his resignation amidst ongoing criticism of the program and political controversies surrounding it. The project, also known as the Presidential Transition Project, was launched in April 2022 by the Heritage Foundation as a blueprint for a potential future Republican administration to restructure various aspects of the U.S. government.
Former President Donald Trump has been vocal in his disapproval of Project 2025, describing it as 'absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.' Trump's criticism intensified as the Biden campaign began to focus on the 900-page conservative plan, which some believed aimed to dissuade voters from supporting a second Trump administration.
In response to the escalating scrutiny, Kevin Roberts, the president of Heritage, confirmed the departure of Paul Dans, the project's leader. Roberts praised Dans for successfully bringing together over 110 leading conservative organizations to create a unified vision aimed at shifting power from the unelected administrative state back to the people.
Roberts emphasized that Project 2025 had achieved its goal of developing a comprehensive conservative policy framework and that Dans had played a crucial role in its establishment. The project was designed to assist any future administration in implementing conservative policies at various levels of government.
Despite Dans' departure, Heritage Foundation remains committed to advancing the objectives of Project 2025. The organization plans to continue building a personnel apparatus to support policymakers at the federal, state, and local levels. Roberts expressed gratitude for the dedication of everyone involved in the project and reiterated the importance of their collective efforts in shaping America's future.
