Every time she came down to Duffy shops to grab a coffee, artist Jennifer Baird imagined opening a gallery in a boarded-up old restaurant that had sat empty there for years.
In August, the space finally came back to life with the opening of The Gallery Next Door.
The recent opening of the gallery in Duffy, as well as its name, indicates a growing trend in Canberra of commercial galleries appearing in small suburban centres rather than central hubs.
