Many probably know this one fun fact about critically acclaimed filmmaker Steven Spielberg—he's actually an avid gamer. In fact, he loves it so much that it's one of the bonding activities that he has with his son.
However, there is one game that he refuses to play, and it's the one that features treasure hunter, Nathan Drake.
Yes, believe it or not, Spielberg doesn't like to play Uncharted. But why is that exactly?
Why Steven Spielberg Won't Play 'Uncharted'
In an interview, Spielberg's son, Max Spielberg, revealed the reason why his father will not play Uncharted.
"He loves story games and I'm always trying to get him to play Uncharted because it's Indiana Jones and I'm like, 'Hey, you'd appreciate this,'" said the younger Spielberg. "But he's like, 'I can't do controllers. I can only do keyboard and mouse.'"
So, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Steven Spielberg does not like using controllers.
The younger Spielberg went as far as to note that his dad is a "big PC guy." Max Spielberg also said that it was his father who got him into gaming.
All hope is not lost, however, as IGN has pointed out that the famous director can play Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves on Steam, which means he can enjoy the famous franchise using his favored keyboard and mouse.
The Game That Spielberg Does Enjoy
If Steven Spielberg does not like to play Uncharted, what game does he enjoy playing then? Well, it's none other than Call of Duty.
"It's always a Call of Duty," said Max Spielberg. "He loves Call of Duty."
When it comes to the specific aspect of the Call of Duty games that the director enjoys most, his son said that he loves playing the story modes of the games.
Steven Spielberg and Video Games
Throughout his illustrious career, Spielberg has done numerous video game-related projects. One notable project is the 2018 movie Ready Player One, which he directed.
In addition to this, Spielberg has previously collaborated with Electronic Arts (EA) on numerous games. These include the puzzle video Boom Blox, which was released in 2008.
More notably, he is the creator of the company's Medal of Honor series. The first game in the series was released way back in 1999.
