The Boston Celtics and the NBA may be abuzz with stories and excitement from the league’s annual media day and the opening of training camps this week, but football season is already in full swing across the country, and perhaps the biggest story in North American sports at the moment is the University of Colorado football team under head coach Deion Sanders.
The former NFL great has brought his specific brand of razzle dazzle to college football, and the Colorado Buffalos have been appointment viewing all season long. Over the weekend, UCB alum Derrick White took his Celtics teammate Jaylen Brown out to Boulder to see a game live. Brown later recounted the experience during Boston’s media day this Monday.

“They all add up, and all the stories … team meeting and things they did off the court as a group,” said Tatum. https://t.co/QxWHKTDIHb

“D-White,” Brown continued. “He’s drunk at 10 a.m. in the morning, this is part of the culture, it’s tailgating. It’s college and I’m with D White, so I’m like, ‘do as the Romans do,’ right?”
Derrick White chimed in about the weekend as well, telling reporters “the vibes were high” at the game despite Colorado’s losing effort to a tough University of Southern California team.
Celebrities of all stripes have made it a point to visit Colorado to see Sanders and the Buffalos in person. Brown and White joined a number of famous folks in attendance over the weekend, including Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

Brown had high praise for Sanders and UCB. He noted Boulder had never seemed livelier, and shared he got to talk to the coach after the game.
“I invited him to a Celtics game,’ Brown said. “He told me maybe when their season is over he’ll come up and come to a game or something like that.”
Boston begins the month with a week of practices before opening up the preseason this weekend at home against the Philadelphia 76ers. It’s unclear whether Coach Sanders will be in attendance.
“Playing for USA Basketball, there is no greater honor,” said Brown. https://t.co/FKgBVCcedc
