As you may or may not know: The NFL doles out compensatory draft picks to its teams that lose players to free agency, or staff members to another squad.
There’s a formula used by the league to figure out who should get which picks — maybe if your team lost a bunch of big-name free agents, they end up with an extra third-round pick in the next draft.
On Friday, the picks were revealed, and the San Francisco 49ers — who made it to the Super Bowl but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs — will get five extra selections.
