Here's How to Get Cash From Facebook's $725 Million Class Action Settlement

Have you used Facebook in the last 15 years? Well you're in luck because you just won a piece of a giant class action lawsuit against its parent company Meta Platforms (META)

The company reached a settlement in the massive lawsuit that alleges the company made user data available to third parties without their permission, and did not monitor or enforce third-party access to the data.

DON'T MISS: U.S. Users Left Out of Meta's Important New Privacy Change

The wide-ranging class-action includes all Facebook users in the U.S. between May 24, 2007 and December 22, 2022, so if you have used the platform during that period, you are entitled to a piece of the settlement pie.

While the payment size for each individual claim will depend on how long that individual was a Facebook user and how many users ultimately file a claim before the August 25, 2023 deadline, you shouldn't expect to get enough money to retire out of this lawsuit.

A separate $650 million class action settlement was reached with Facebook in Illinois last year. That settlement led to hundreds of dollars being paid out to more than a million residents in the state.

The payouts from this national lawsuit will likely be smaller since the pool of money is not much bigger than the Illinois lawsuit, and the pool of potential claimants is much larger.

Individuals looking to file a claim here at any point before the August deadline.
