Netflix certainly had (or has, should the series continue) a smash-hit on its hands with “KPop Demon Hunters,” an animated film which draws elements from a number of inspirations and which achieved a staggering 325 million views — making it the most-watched original Netflix title thus far.
The narrative hinges around a trio of K-pop stars — Rumi, Mira and Zoey — as they juggle dual duties of high-octane musical performances alongside mystical battles against demons. And beyond the most obvious appearances of wealth portrayed in the film, including an enormous mansion with a wildly expansive wardrobe as well as a massive private jet, fans of the franchise have been setting to work on estimating just how much the members of Huntrix (stylized as Huntr/x) would be earning in the real world.
And while we’re thinking about how realistic our favorite fictional characters are, GOBankingRates explored how much groceries in “Home Alone” would cost in 2025.
How Much Huntr/x Would Make in the Real World, According to Fan Analysis
Most social media sources for this pressing question point back to a post made closer to the June release of “KPop Demon Hunters,” with a Reddit user going by the name of DatabaseFluffy1022 crunching some serious numbers to come up with a final estimate over a five-year time frame.
The figures presented are as follows:
- A whopping 2 million albums sold per year, at $15 per album, or $30 million annually. Over five years, this totals $150 million.
- A huge 5 billion streams across music platforms, with Spotify paying an estimated $0.003 per stream as a baseline. This comes in at $15 million per year, or $75 million over the half-decade time frame.
- On merchandise, the reddit user posited that if just 5% of their 50 million fans bought $30 of band merch each year, Huntr/x would see gross revenue of $75 million per year.
- A tour earning $150 million per year was also included in the calculations, as were endorsements of the fictional K-pop group at $30 million per year. Licensing was pegged at $100 million over the course of five years.
In total, DatabaseFluffy1022 came up with gross earnings of $1.6 billion for the three members of Huntrix over a five-year time span. This post achieved nearly 1,000 upvotes — and attracted dozens of positive comments — after having been posted.
Despite the hypothetical calculations, the talented team of huntresses are already hitting huge milestones in real life. Huntr/x’s music has been topping IRL charts since their debut in June 2025, including the Billboard Hot 100 and Global Charts.
Of course, it’s nearly impossible to project rock-solid revenue guesses for an entirely fictional musical group, but one thing is certain: The IP isn’t going anywhere — although a sequel could take time to materialize.
According to Screen Rant, Netflix and Sony have signaled a 2029 release window for
KPop Demon Hunters 2,” but more recent reports have put something of a damper on any premature enthusiasm — with a more recent Collider report suggesting that some of the film’s stars have yet to be formally contacted over sequel duties.
