Here’s how much Panthers QB Andy Dalton can get paid in incentives

Back in March, the Carolina Panthers and quarterback Andy Dalton came to terms on a two-year, $10 million deal. But, as revealed by NFL insider Ari Meirov on Wednesday, those terms can get a lot richer for the veteran passer.

Meirov, in a piece for The 33rd Team, has tracked contract incentives for some of the league’s most notable offseason signings. Among the collection of pacts sits Dalton’s, which can nearly double under certain circumstances.

The 35-year-old can earn up to a total of $7 million in incentives, which is split evenly between the 2023 and 2024 seasons. To break it down—he can fetch an extra $1 million if he plays in at least 70 percent of the offensive snaps, another $1 million if he plays in at least 50% percent of the offensive snaps and if the Panthers make the playoffs and has another $1.5 million in unspecified individual and club performance bonuses.

While we’re all for dudes getting their dollars, Dalton achieving any of these bonuses would probably mean things went very wrong for Carolina and No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young in 2023. But, this is NFL—and you never know what lies ahead.
