Massachusetts : Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital, a founding member of the Mass General Brigham healthcare system, discovered that measuring three independent biological markers in a blood sample can better predict the risk of major cardiovascular risk over the next three decades than measuring only one.
A study of 27,939 healthy American women presented at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress in London and published simultaneously in the New England Journal of Medicine found that a single measure of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and lipoprotein(a), a genetically determined lipid fraction, significantly predicted cardiovascular risk over an unprecedented 30-year follow-up period.
