A 23-year-old man who was repeatedly kicked in the head outside an Ayr pub in a brutal assault has pleaded with police to find his attackers.
The victim of the vicious assault had to take two trips to A&E after he was mauled outside the Ghillie Dhu on Friday, December 23 around 10pm.
The attack took place in front of stunned witnesses with the Burns Statue Square boozer packed with party goers.
A sickening video has emerged from the beating, which shows the victim from Ayr, lying unconscious on the ground whilst his head is ‘kicked like a football’, by another man.
It is understood a second man was also involved in the attack.
The victim, who does not wish to be named, suffered head trauma, with medics fearing his persistent concussion ‘could take months’ to clear.
The victim told Ayrshire Live: “My attackers have been out enjoying themselves over Christmas and New Year, whilst I’ve had to suffer.
“My sister rushed me to hospital where I was given a CT scan and sent home with different painkillers.
“The next night I had to go back to the hospital for more tests, with doctors telling me I’ve got persistent concussion syndrome which is affecting my speech and causing me constant pain.
“I also had bleeding at the back of my eye, with an optician telling me I am lucky not to have lost my sight.”
The victim is now begging officers to take action after claiming to wait 12 days to give a full statement.
It is understood a probe has been launched, with CCTV footage being poured over.
But the victim claims he has tried on numerous occasions to speak to officers in a desperate attempt to get his attackers off the streets.
He added: “I’ve spent days phoning 101 to try and speak to officers and every time I’ve phoned I’ve just been told that the investigating officer will be emailed – to never get an update.
“I feel like I’ve been completely let down.
“I offered to give a statement on Christmas and any other day, as I wanted to get it done.
“I offered to attend Ayr police station and speak to any officer, despite the pain that I was in.
“I was told the investigating officer wouldn’t be available on Thursday, but on Thursday it got to 8pm and I’d not heard from anyone.
“When I phoned I spoke to a random officer who just told me it had to be investigating officer who would speak to me.
“It is concerning how long things have taken. I just went them to find the men who attacked me.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed officers were investigating reports of an assault.
A spokesperson said: “Around 11.40pm on Friday, December 23, we were made aware of a 23-year-old man having been assaulted in Ayr town centre earlier that evening.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
