Generally, you should be able to get a queen for around $1,000 ort under. This is an exceptional price for luxury mattress that offers the kind of comfort you'd expect to find in a hotel.

Both the Helix Midnight Luxe and the DreamCloud Premier are hybrid mattresses, featuring a combination of springs and foam layers. The Helix Midnight Luxe is the taller mattress, measuring 13.5 inches. But standing 13 inches deep, the DreamCloud is only marginally shallower, and we consider both beds to be thick mattresses.
Overall, both beds have a similar basic designs. Like many of the best hybrid mattresses, both feature upper layers of comfort foams, before a layer of transitional foam, then a layer of springs, before a final layer of stabilizing foam.
However, within that basic design there are certain features worth noting. The Helix has two layers of comfort foam: a response foam, designed for cradling comfort, and a layer of copper gel memory foam, for improved temperature regulation. The DreamCloud has three layers of comfort foams before you reach the supportive transition foam. But add on Helix' plush pillow top cover, and you'll find the Midnight Luxe has the overall softer feel.
Both beds use individually wrapped coils, to help limit motion transfer, which means that restless sleepers who share a bed shouldn't be easily disturbed. The Helix Midnight Luxe contains zoned support coils – they feel firmer at the center to support he hips, and softer at the head to cushion the shoulder. DreamCloud, on the other hand, focuses reinforcement at the edge, with thicker coils running along the perimeter. This increased edge support prevents the mattress from sinking at the sides.
The Helix Midnight Luxe comes with two cover options: the standard moisture-wicking TENCEL cover or an upgraded GlacioTex cooling cover (which we'll cover in the temperature control section below). The DreamCloud Premier only comes with one cover, but it is made from a breathable cashmere blend cover.
The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid also comes with handles, something that's notably missing from the Helix Midnight Luxe. While this isn't a major downside, a queen Helix Midnight Luxe weighs 115 lbs, so it can be tricky to maneuver. CertiPUR-US certified foams throughout the construction of both mattresses.

Helix rates the Midnight Luxe as a medium mattress, placing it at a 5-6 out of 10 on the firmness scale and is specifically aimed at side sleepers/ We had a chance to get hands-on with the Helix Midnight Luxe and found that description accurate, with the squishy pillow-top providing cushioned comfort. It also has excellent motion isolation, so if you share a bed, you shouldn't feel your partner moving around. However, the edge support was average, so if you have limited mobility or need to be able to sleep right up to the edge of your bed, you might prefer a sturdier perimeter.
Despite some similarities in build, the DreamCloud Premier has a notably different feel to the Helix Midnight Luxe. DreamCloud rates the Premier Hybrid as a 6.5 on the firmness scale. In our DreamCloud Premier mattress review, we largely agreed with this, finding the bed offered a slight cushioned sink while maintaining good support.
While the Helix Midnight Luxe is best for side sleepers, the DreamCloud Premier is perfect for for back sleepers. We rate it as the best DreamCloud mattress for back sleepers, thanks to the strong support at the hips.
Combination sleepers who like to move about in the night are also likely to favor the slightly firmer feel of the DreamCloud Premier. And this supportive feel stretches all the way to the sides, so you don't have to worry about slipping off in the night. But you might feel it if your partner gets out of bed – the motion isolation is fine, but not the best.

Neither bed is rated among the best cooling mattresses, but our testers found they both do a decent job at keeping the temperature comfortable overnight. Both use breathable materials in their standard covers to help limit night sweats, and both feature gel-infused memory foam to help disperse heat.
