A police helicopter was brought in to aid in the search for a man missing in Midlothian who was later traced safe and well. Robert Robertson, 48, was reported missing earlier on Friday.
He was last seen in the Gladhouse area around 1pm on Friday, December 30, and there had been concerns for his welfare. He is described as being white, around 5ft 10, with a regular build. He may be wearing a navy blue work uniform and fluffy hat.
The search had been focused on Gladhouse area, with officers on the ground being assisted by the force chopper, which had scoured a local reservoir. On Saturday morning, Police Scotland announced that Robert had been traced.
A statement from the force issued on December 31 read: "Robert Robertson (48), who was reported missing in the Gladhouse area on Friday, 30 December, 2022 has been traced safe and well."
Inspector David Hughes, of Police Scotland, previously said: “We are appealing for anyone with information on David’s whereabouts to come forward and contact police as soon as possible.
“There are searches ongoing in the Gladhouse area, including assistance from a helicopter at Gladhouse Reservoir. At this time, we would ask members of the public to avoid the area, to allow police officers to carry out their work in what is dangerous weather.
“If you believe you can assist our efforts, please call 101, quoting incident 2054 of December 30, 2022.”
Gladhouse Reservoir, formerly known as Moorfoot Loch, is five miles south of Penicuik, and is used to supply Edinburgh with drinking water.
