Did anyone else really struggle with footwear in the heatwave last week? The only thing I could bear to wear on my hot feet were flip-flops!
So when I spotted Helen Skelton's chunky black Teva sandals, I knew I needed to invest. The Morning Live presenter wore hers for watersports on a lake, and whilst I'll be wearing mine with my best summer dresses in the city, the fully waterproof design of the Hurricane Drift sandals means they're ideal for a trip to the beach.
The rubber-like Eva material won't absorb water and dries really quickly, too. It's easy to rinse any sand off afterwards, and they even float! With the ankle strap, they feel much sturdier than slip-on sandals, plus one customer said it's "like wearing a cloud!", making these a contender for some of the most comfortable sandals for women.

Perfect for walking, hiking, watersports, or just getting through the next heatwave, these sandals have got thousands of reviews, so you don't just have to take Helen's word for how good they are. One wrote: "I got these for long walks on my holiday, and honestly, they’ve been amazing! I tried them out during the UK heatwave, and they’re super breathable — it feels like I’m almost barefoot but still getting great support.' and another called them "affordable and good for your feet. I showed this to my podiatrist friend who said they looked good too!" Can't see your size? The white version is currently priced at just £28.

We're huge fans of FitFlop here at woman&home. These are made from padded pillow-soft faux-leather and have a pressure-diffusing sole that's perfect if you're on your feet all day. Be sure to check out the FitFlop sale while you're shopping

Skechers are another favourite amongst our team. We love their comfortable trainers, but these sandals come highly recommended by customers. One called them: "great for walking, particularly on hot days."

If being waterproof is the major factor you need from your summer footwear, then look no further than Merry People. This brand makes the most amazing wellies, but now they're doing sandals, too. They're designed for outdoor adventures, and are selling fast.
Complete the look

I love the flat top shape of Helen's sunnies, plus I find tortoiseshell a much softer alternative to black sunglasses. I almost bought these yesterday at £70, so am thrilled to see them much cheaper today!

Look closely and you'll notice Helen's subtle gold earrings. A refreshing change to studs or hoops, these will work with everything in your summer capsule wardrobe.

Not only does this sporty zip-up swimsuit offer UV protection, it's also got Secret Slimming™ technology. Not bad for £36!
Tevas have long been a cult favourite in the summer months, with celebrity fans such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Demi Moore. They're sports sandals that still look very stylish with everything from jeans to midi dresses for everyday wear. They're also incredibly durable and versatile, so if it's your first time trying Teva, it's time to dip a toe in the water!
