Helen Skelton Strictly victory in touching distance after 'ultimate revenge' move

Helen Skelton could be within 'touching distance' of victory on Strictly Come Dancing after what fans and experts are labelling the 'ultimate revenge' move from the TV host last week.

The On The Farm star has shaken off a real crisis of confidence in the early days of the new series to deliver some tremendous performances on the Strictly dancefloor and emerge as a serious contender for the Glitterball trophy, alongside professional dance partner Gorka Marquez.

Gorka has been Helen' s biggest cheerleader since the ex Blue Peter presenter's first week 'wobble' when she ran out of rehearsals through a fire exit, staging a very public show of support for her during one of the live shows. The couple did their chances of winning the new series no harm at all last weekend when they very nearly got a perfect score for their Couple's Choice routine for Musicals Week.

Their performance to Mein Herr from Cabaret earned them a score of 39 out of 40 from the judges, as viewers at home claimed Helen sent a 'message' to ex Richie Myle r, after their split earlier this year. And, bookies think that Helen's 'revenge' dance could have put her in with a massive shot of Strictly glory, as her and Gorka's odds of winning drop again to 13/10 with BetVictor, putting them hot on the heels of long time favourite Hamza Yassin.

Addressing the latest odds, BetVictor's Sam Boswell said: “The winner market is still lead by Hamza at 8/13, Hamza and Jowita are dancing to Charleston to Pencil Full Of Lead by Paolo Nutini and Waltz to What The World Needs Now by Burt Bacharach.”

“It’s looking like a two-horse race now as Helen and Gorka are very close behind Hamza, at 13/10. She was amazing in her performance last week; she shared the top spot with Will Mellor with 39 points each. This week, Helen and Gorka are performing the Argentine Tango to Here Comes The Rain Again by Eurythmics and Waltz to Only One Road by Céline Dion.”

On the subject of who else could be in contention, Sam added: "Will comes in as third favourite at 12/1. Will and Nancy are dancing to Couple's Choice to Know How / Fools Gold / Step On Young MC / The Stone Roses / Happy Mondays and Paso Doble to Uccen – DWTS Remix by Taalbi Brothers, DWTS.”
