Helen Flanagan makes 'huge mistake' as she makes journey home from Glasgow

Former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan made a wee mistake on her way home from Glasgow after celebrating the festive season north of the border.

The 32-year-old enjoyed some time in the city over Christmas time with her kids Matilda, Delilah and Charlie. Helen previously lived in Glasgow with her former partner and ex-Celtic star Scott Sinclair.

And on her journey back down the road to London, she realised she had made a mistake by opting to travel by train during rail strikes, reports The Daily Record.

Industrial action resulted in disruption throughout 2022, with more strikes pencilled in during 2023 starting off with five days of walk outs during the New Year.

It comes as the long running dispute between the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Train Workers (RMT) and train operating companies continue. Disagreements over pay and working conditions are yet to be resolved, with huge disruption to festive travel during the first week of January.

And the actress experienced the chaos, taking to Instagram to document her journey. Helen said she was "the idiot getting on trains" as she addressed her followers on the social media platform.

"So, my driver has said to me 'don't go on the trains today,' but I decided that, you know, it might be ok, there might be some trains running.

"So, I'm on a train - I've got to go to London tomorrow, but I'm meeting the girls' nana in Birmingham. So, yeah, I'm just hoping that I can actually... as long as I get the kids ok I don't know how I'm going to go down to London tomorrow. I might even have to stay over in Birmingham and get a train in the morning" she added.

During the video, Helen panned to show her kids sitting at a table on the train with their iPads as they made their way back down south.

"It's always quite stressful when you're travelling with kids isn't it but I've got their iPads, and then I've got colouring for them, crayons, snacks."

Shortly after, the actress was back on her stories to update followers on her situation. "So I've just cleaned up an egg sandwich that Charlie threw on the floor", she shared.

The former Celtic WAG travelled to Glasgow to be pal Libby Smith's bridesmaid, with her children also attending to special day.

Helen shared snaps of her and the wee ones in adorable Christmas jammies as they enjoyed their stay at Glasgow's Blythswood hotel.

Alongside the pictures, Helen wrote: "Gorgeous stay last week with my babies at the stunning @kimptonblythswoodsquare I always try and get to Glasgow when I can when the kids are on breaks from school x Love @kimptonblythswoodsquare always such happy memories here #giftedstay."
