Almost twenty years since it first disappeared from shops, the Heinz Beanz Pizza has returned. A true '90s symbol - as iconic as the Spice Girls, frosted tips and shell suit jackets - the culinary treat is now available to buy again after it was discontinued back in 2003.
Since its disappearance, Heinz fans across the UK have been pining for its comeback. Rumours of the Beanz Pizza have already been causing quite a stir on social media and exciting fans online.
One bean-lover commented: "Anybody else remember eating this gourmet creation back in the 90s? This would be a treat on a Saturday evening while watching Gladiators."
And after seeing overwhelming consumer demand and love for the classic recipe, Heinz has decided to bring back the much-missed blast from the past - and it's got a fresh new look. Suitable for vegetarians, the Heinz Beanz Pizza is a nod to nostalgia of the '90s - and fans are over the moon that it's available in shops again.
One fan on Twitter said: "YES! Since you stopped making them I've been putting beans on my pizzas. Not quite the same, but filled the void." While another added: "FAB-U-LOUS thank you!"
The re-launch of the Beanz Pizza forms part of Heinz’s goal to bring people the food they know and love in new, exciting, and inventive ways. It comes just a month after the launch of Heinz Beanz Bowls; packed with naturally protein-rich beans, they tap into both plant-based and high-protein food trends.
Sophie Higgins, head of growth platform – new ventures at Heinz, said: "We are so excited to relaunch our Beanz Pizza. It truly is ICONIC. After seeing the excitement build this year following the launch of our Beanz Burgerz, Beanz Bowls and Beanz Filled Hash Browns, bringing back our Beanz Pizza felt like the perfect follow up.
"We know there are some true fans of our frozen Beanz Pizzas out there and – after a 20-year hiatus from supermarkets – we hope they’re as happy today as we are to hear this absolute classic is available again in stores.
"This is our fourth foray into the freezer aisles for Heinz Beanz over the past year, following the launch of our first frozen ready meals range - Beanz Burgerz, Beanz Bowlz, and Beanz Hash Browns." The bean-topped pizza will be available in Iceland stores from the end of November, costing £3.
