Heidi Klum's most outrageous Halloween costumes from alien experiment to Jessica Rabbit

Heidi Klum is the undeniable Queen of Halloween, going bigger and better with her weird and terrifying costumes each year.

The 49-year-old supermodel hosts an annual epic Halloween party, which has been attended by a whole host of famous faces, including Gigi Hadid, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey.

The America’s Got Talent host kicked it all off in 2000 when she dressed up as a gothic Heidi and the rest, as they say, is history.

Heidi uses a team of Oscar-winning makeup artists and prosthetics to create her daring looks which have included Princess Fiona, a rotting corpse and even an extra terrestrial experiment.

Only time will tell what this year's costume will be, but for now, we've taken a look at some of her most unbelievable Halloween outfits so far.

Alien experiment (2019)

In 2019, Heidi dressed up as an alien experiment gone wrong, while her husband Tom Kaulitz matched as a dead spaceman.

To achieve this epic look, the mum-of-four got ready in front of a live audience in New York City and spent a whopping six hours undergoing the transformation.

Heidi arrived at her Halloween bash in a giant glass vehicle which featured a bio-hazard warning and blood splatters on the glass.

33-year-old Tom explained the backstory of their costumes to People : "I was in space looking for a new planet for humans to live on, right? Cause we already discarded ours.

"I was out there, touring the universe and so, I found her, I found this creature, and I was like, 'Wow, she looks good.' I brought her home.

"So, hopefully, she has some useful information planned."

Superhero robot (2010)

Heidi towered over her party guests in 2010, with the 5'9" model using boots on stilts to add to her spooky robot appearance.

She wore a superhero cape to give the costume a twist and committed to the getup completely, painting her skin a glittery purple and wearing red contact lenses.

Heidi also opted for a sky-high red wig which further added to her incredible height. She later described the costume as being "larger than life" and she certainly wasn't wrong.

Princess Fiona (2018)

Tom and Heidi must have turned guests green with envy in 2018, when they arrived to the party dressed as Princess Fiona and Shrek.

The couple pulled out all the stops, painting themselves green and wearing prosthetic ears and fake hands so they could mimic the actions of their character.

A good costume is surely only made better with props and Heidi brought along a wooden stroller with three ogre babies inside.

Mummy family (2020)

Halloween looked a little different in 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, with Heidi deciding to forgo her traditional celebrations.

Instead, the TV personality starred in a mini horror film with her family, which she released on Instagram.

In the video, her kids – Leni, Lou, Henry and Johan – are transformed into mummies with the help of toilet paper, but when the clock strikes midnight they're turned into real ones.

Heidi attempts to hide from them by using elaborate body paint to blend in with the wall and then her bed.

Rotting corpse (2011)

In 2011, Heidi wore her most gruesome costume yet as she dressed up as a terrifying dead body which was wheeled onto the red carpet on a stretcher carried by blood splattered doctors.

The graphic outfit made her body look inside out, with no skin and her muscles and bones visible.

"It's kind of like a dead body with the first layer of skin ripped off," Heidi told People. "It's basically like me naked."

She said she called this outfit the "visible woman".

Ape (2011)

Heidi also hosted a second Halloween party in 2011, wearing a Planet of the Apes costume to her New York City bash. Her then-husband Seal went for a matching outfit.

The pair looked unrecognisable in their costumes and it's no surprise – it reportedly took nearly six hours to apply all of Heidi's makeup, which included a pair of fake breasts.

They were completely covered in hair, with a monkey snout and ears.

Zombie mum (2021)

Heidi posted another video in 2021, as she rose from the dead, ready to get her revenge on her children for last year's murder.

The Instagram film paid tribute to plenty of iconic horror films, with a Psycho shower scene and a "Here's Mommy!" homage to the Shinning.

Heidi also sits down for a meal with her zombie family as she happily tucks in to a severed arm, with blood getting splattered around her face.

Jessica Rabbit (2015)

The costume took HOURS to perfect (Instagram)

In 2015, Heidi dressed up as curvaceous cartoon vixen Jessica Rabbit.

She since revealed that this was the most painful of all her transformations, due to the difficulty of removing the prosthetics on her face.

She told Entertainment Tonight: "It took two hours to take all of that off, because it’s very, very harsh glue that they put on your skin and then they have to put glue remover under it."
