Heidi Klum feared Rod Stewart wouldn't allow her to use his music in new Snoop Dogg song

Last month, supermodel Heidi Klum dipped her toe into the music world after releasing a track with Snoop Dogg, but she feared Rod Stewart may put a halt in her plans.

Heidi, 48, reached out to Rod, 76, about the lines 'When I give my heart again // I know it's gonna last forever' from his 1983 track Baby Jane.

The former Victoria's Secret model revealed that the Drop It Like Its Hot rapper was her first choice for a collaboration as she had been a 'huge fan' of him for decades.

Speaking to Mail Online, she said: "I know Snoop from seeing him out and about and living in Los Angeles," she said, figuring she'd just "give him a call and ask him straight up."

Snoop, 50, jumped at the chance to record with Klum and invited her down to his Inglewood, California studio.

Heidi said she went through her own personal rolodex and couldn't find a single mutual friend shared with Stewart.

"We did already all the recording and we did the music video and I still could not get a hold of Rod Stewart," she recollected.

By a sheer chance of luck, Heidi's hair stylist Tracey Cunningham knew Rod's daughter Kimberly and was happy to connect the two.

Heidi explained: "I'm already worried this is going to fall apart because if Rod doesn't like it [it's] all gonna go in the garbage, and I hear nothing, five weeks, six weeks, seven weeks.

She described the confusion as, "Literally the dumbest thing," as she laughed away.

"He was in my spam. He actually emailed me back immediately [saying] 'this is so fun, yes, you get my thumbs up.' I would have been in big trouble."

Heidi surprised fans when she dropped her latest single titled “Chai Tea With Heidi,” which also features DJ Wedding Cake as well as Rod's lyrics.

The song is Klum’s first musical release since her holiday single “Wonderland,” which came out in 2006.

Speaking to Billboard, Heidi said of the collaboration: “I’m not gonna drive to Snoop Dogg and not have anything, I’m gonna work on something.

"So I worked with DJ Wedding Cake, I worked on getting this track together and already I was thinking what can I sing over this, and I’ve always loved Rod and I think his lyrics and his melodies are so beautiful.”
