Heavy Edinburgh police presence spotted at popular capital woodland area

A major emergency services response was spotted on Corstorphine Hill with police tape strewn throughout an entrance to a popular path used by dog walkers.

Around five police vehicles and three ambulances were spotted along Clermiston Road North at the top of the junction for Drum Brae Drive.

Several officers, including those in suits, were also seen travelling up a pathway at the north end of the hill at a route that is extremely busy with dog walkers and local residents.

Police tape had been tied to trees over a relatively vast space within the woodland area and several members of Police Scotland could be seen within the contained space.

A concerned resident said: “I got up to the woods with my dog and I saw all the police and was terrified that something terrible had happened.

“There were a number of officers and what appeared to be detectives in grey suits exiting vehicles just along from the Leonardo Hotel.

“I hope no one is hurt and that everything is ok.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police received a call regarding concern for an individual at around 3:50pm on the afternoon of Friday August 4.

“Officers remain at the scene.”
