Heathrow’s third runway should only be approved if emissions are reduced, report advises

The third runway at Heathrow should not be approved unless the aviation industry commits to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, project advisers have said.

A report by the Climate Change Committee (CCC), an independent body established under 2008’s Climate Change Act, stated that the expansion would only be permissible if airlines commit to greener fuel.
