Heathrow to Delhi flight forced to turn back after technical issue

  • An IndiGo flight from London Heathrow to Delhi was forced to turn back just 20 minutes into its journey on 22 September due to a technical issue.
  • The Boeing 787 transmitted an emergency squawk code 7700 after turning around over the English Channel before reaching Belgium.
  • The aircraft landed safely back at Heathrow Airport at around 9.20pm, less than an hour after take-off.
  • IndiGo confirmed the plane is undergoing maintenance checks and will resume operations once all necessary clearances are obtained.
  • Affected passengers were provided with hotel accommodation and rebooked on alternative flights to Delhi to minimise disruption.
