The Met Office has issued a health alert for parts of the country as temperatures are once again set to climb into the thirties this week.
While the heat is not expected to be as extreme as July’s sweltering weather which saw the hottest day on record, temperatures across the UK are expected to reach heatwave territory this week. The Met Office has put out a Level 3 Heat Alert for southern and central England, areas which will see highs of a scorching 36C, with the UK Health Security Agency advising people to look out for those who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat including older people, young children and people with underlying health conditions.
The health alert will be in place from midday today, Tuesday, until 6pm on Saturday. There is also very little rain in the UK-wide forecast - following the pattern of last month which saw the driest July since 1935 - with forecasters warning that wildfires could break out in the heat, The Mirror reports.
