Terrifying footage shows the moments cars smash into trams in Manchester city centre.
Around £1.4 million worth of damage was caused by 91 car collisions with trams between April and December last year, according to Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). These videos show the heartstopping moments cars collide with 40-tonne trams on some of the city's busiest roads.
The footage has been released by TfGM as part of ongoing efforts to ensure drivers remain ‘tram aware’ when driving near the Metrolink. Metrolink bosses warned that such collisions 'put the driver, tram driver and passengers at risk of serious injury'.
