Hearts transfer update as Robbie Neilson set to be 'little more aggressive' after injury woe

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson believes that it will be loan deals the Jambos are likely to get at this stage in the transfer window.

The Tynecastle side are dealing with a clutch of injury problems after striker Liam Boyce was ruled out for months with a cruciate ligament injury. Defender Kye Rowles is out for at least six weeks with a broken metatarsal and midfielder Beni Baningime is likely to be out until after the World Cup break in November.

That's not including various players picking up slight knocks amid a mixture of domestic and European fixtures, with Neilson keen to add before the deadline on September 1st. They have added German midfielder Orestis Kiomourtzoglou from Dutch side Heracles Almelo BV although are waiting for his work permit to come through.

Hearts' boss said: "There’s been a lot of dialogue over the last couple of weeks. We spoke after the game on Sunday and again on Monday.

"We had a discussion about what we need to bring in. We’ll need to be a little more aggressive in the market.

"But I’ve said all along, we want quality, not quantity. We’ll maybe ring one or two more in now.

"It depends on what's available. We’d like to bring permanents in but at this stage of the window, it’s going to be less likely.

"It’s probably going to be loan deals. We’ll just see what comes up in the next couple of days.”
