Hearts transfer target arrives in Edinburgh as club close in

Hearts target JJ Williams has arrived in Edinburgh as he prepares to join the club as their new striker.

Manager Wouter Vrancken has been hunting a new No.9 as a priority having lost Lawrence Shankland to Rangers earlier in the window.

Williams was identified for his statistics with Rhode Island and it has been reported that the forward could officially join the Jambos this week with a potential debut coming against St Johnstone.

The attacker, 28, has been plying his trade in the USL Championship for the past three seasons and he has chipped in with 30 goals in just 79 outings.

Before his stint with Rhode Island he had played for Tampa Bay Rowdies where he scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in just 34 games.

Williams will undergo a medical in Gorgie before signing on the dotted line to become the club's 11th summer signing to join Vrancken's new look squad.

All that is left to be secured for the player is a work permit but the Hearts Standard claim that is expected to be straightforward to get done.
