Hearts team news vs Motherwell as Robert Snodgrass and Orestis Kiomourtzoglou decisions made

Robbie Neilson has named his Hearts starting XI to face Motherwell at Fir Park.

The Jambos are on the road once again after Thursday's Europa Conference League trip to Riga to face RFS. The capital club went into that one on the back of six defeats in the last seven games - including an opening group stage hammering by Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir at Tynecastle - but they turned in a superb display against the group fourth seeds to pick up a big three points and a confidence boosting win.

A stunning Lawrence Shankland penalty and Alan Forrest strike late on sent the travelling fans wild and put the Gorgie club second in the group as they got off the mark in Europe. Craig Gordon also pulled off three stunning saves in a big away day performance. The one negative was Craig Halkett lasting just 20 minutes on his return from injury before being replaced.

But despite the highs of that European win, domestic matters are back and will be the main focus for Neilson and his troops.

Victory would put them back into third spot behind Celtic and Rangers heading into the international break, and have them flying ahead of hosting the Light Blues on the Scottish Premiership return on October 1.

In their six league games to date ahead of this one Hearts have picked up three wins, two defeats and one draw. The same record as opponents Mothewell, who could jump as high as third with all three points.

Hearts XI: Gordon, M. Smith, Kingsley, Kiomourtzoglou, Shankland, Devlin, Halliday, Forrest, McKay, Cochrane, Neilson

Subs: Stewart, Haring, Grant, Mackay-Steven, Atkinson, Sibbick, Humphrys, Ginnelly, Snodgrass
