Hearts No1 Craig Gordon was struck with a missile during the Europa League play-off showdown with FC Zurich.
The Jambos skipper was shaping up to take a free-kick in front of the away support when he appeared to be hit with an object from the crowd. The Scotland international clearly felt the impact with TV pictures showing the veteran goalie crouched over, holding the back of his head before signalling to the match official what had happened.
James McFadden, on pundit duty in the BBC Sportscene studio said: "They've made loads of noise. They've supported there team. But I don't know what goes through someone's head to through something on the pitch." Speaking about the incident at full-time, Gordon said: "I don't know what it was but something hit me on the back of the head. It shouldn't happen but these things occasionally happen in these games but yeah it's just one of those things."
It comes as live TV footage of the second leg match on BBC Scotland cut off for an extended period due to technical difficulties.
A message on screen read: "We are sorry for the break in this programme and are trying to correct the fault."

During the time that the picture was down, FC Zurich grabbed the opening goal of the game in the capital through Fabian Rohner - which proved to be the winner on the night as Hearts lost out 3-1 on aggregate.
The home side had been reduced to ten men early in the second-half after Jorge Grant was penalised with a second yellow card for simulation.
