Hearts and Rangers couple go head-to-head over the Scottish cup final

A Rangers fan is preparing to go head-to-head with her Hearts daft fiancé at the Scottish Cup Final.

The battle lines have been drawn between Jennifer Tait and Gary McDougall, who are both going to the match at Hampden Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The 36-year-old believes that Rangers will come out with a 2-1 win but admits that Hearts could give them “a run for our money”.

According to The Daily Record, Jennifer, from Chapelhall, near Airdrie, is still reeling from Rangers’ defeat in the Europa League Cup final in Seville and is praying for a victory.

Despite the final result, the mum-of-one has stopped short of calling off the couple’s wedding in April next year - but has banned the colours blue and maroon at their forthcoming nuptials.

She said: “The last few days have been torture because of the result on Wednesday.

“And then obviously on Thursday it all came to a head because that marked 10 years since Hearts won the cup so Gary is expecting them to lift it again.

“He’s already planned his day on Sunday because Hearts have announced that they’re going to do an open top tour bus in Gorgie if they win. But that’s not happening.

“We’re both going to the game but we’ll be at opposite ends of the stadium. We’re going to the pub first together but then we’ll put our strips on over our tops and go our separate ways.

“Friday is our day off and usually we’ll go food shopping together but I’ve gone myself because the wind up has already started.”

And while the final result won’t see their big day cancelled, Jennifer revealed that strict colour scheme criteria had been put in place.

She explained: “I don’t think we’ll go as far as cancelling it but there’s no blue or maroon colours at the wedding at all. We’ve definitely had to stay away from that.”

Prison officer Jennifer, who met her hubby-to-be at work, has almost completely lost her voice after cheering on her team during their clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

And she hopes that the boys in blue can bring home at least one trophy this season.

She added: “I was so disappointed on Wednesday. I was with the girls at the Rangers club at Ibrox watching it - Gary obviously wasn’t there. It was hard to go out the way we did.

“But we beat Hearts last week and that was with a lot of players that we wouldn’t normally start with. So I’m hopeful.

“But with football, it could obviously go either way with one of the teams having an absolutely cracking game.

“I wouldn’t say it's already won but I feel fairly confident. But anything could happen.

“I think it’ll be 2-1 to Rangers so I think we’ll win but I think they’ll give us a run for our money.

“We’ve now not got the league and we’ve not got the Europa cup so we need to lift something this season to keep Celtic off our back.”

Gary added: "It's going to be quite a tense household but I think it'll end up being 2-1 to Hearts.

"If they don't win, I'll probably just be pretty quiet. A wee bit sheepish but I'm sure I'll be fine. I am confident that they're going to lift the cup though.

"My dad and my brother are actually Hibs fans so I've always been a bit of a black sheep in the family.

"I've grown up supporting them but if they do lose, I'm going to get it from absolutely every angle. I'm well prepared for that."
