Tributes have been paid to mountain rescue volunteer Kevin Hallahan on the 5th anniversary of his death.

Kildare man Kevin, 43, died after falling on Crib Goch, a narrow ridge located on Snowdon Mountain in Gwynedd, Wales in September 2017. The Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team will be taking part in an annual memorial hike tonight in his memory.

A spokesperson said on Facebook: "Today we remember our friend Kevin, 5 years gone but never forgotten. Tonight we will take to the mountains for our annual memorial hike in his honor and memory.

"Almighty God, Instill in me the discipline to be ready for the call, anywhere, anytime. Give me your speed in my response, keen vision to find those in need of my skills, the wisdom of those who have served before me, courage to face fear and overcome it, and the strength to bring the fallen home."

A well-wisher said in the comments: "Beautiful words. Condolences to all of his DWMR family. RIP Kev."
