Heartbroken friends in Paisley pay tribute to 'the best guy' who died after being hit by car

Tributes have flooded in from heartbroken friends and family for a Paisley man who sadly died after he was struck by a car.

Stuart Crawford has been hailed as 'the best guy you could ever wish to meet' after he was critically injured by a silver Ford Fiesta on Causeyside Street at around 10.15pm on Saturday March 11.

Emergency services rushed to the incident, however, the 37-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The street was closed for hours following the collision as officers carried out an investigation.

Workmate Hazel said: "Can’t believe this has happened to just one of the best people - it’s going to be a while before this news sinks in.

"It is a testament to Stuart how much his work friends are grieving right now- he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. I am so pleased to have had him as a brilliant colleague."

Meanwhile another friend agreed: "Rest in peace Stuart, you were one in a million.

"It’s beyond heartbreaking, another life taken far too soon. What a pleasure it was to work alongside you. You will be truly and sadly missed. My thoughts and condolences are with your family at this devastating time."

Theresa Maitland added: "My thoughts are with Stuart s family and friends. I worked alongside him for four years. He was a lovely young man, he was helpful and was always smiling."

Lorraine Boyle wrote: "One of the best guys you could have met, such a tragic loss, rest in peace Stuart such a privilege to have known you. You will not be forgotten."

An appeal has been launched by Police Scotland to track down the drivers of a red Ford Fiesta and a silver-coloured estate car who they believe saw the incident. It is thought that the estate vehicle is a taxi.

Sergeant Christopher Hoggans said: "Our thoughts remain with Stuart’s family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our enquiries are still ongoing and we are keen to trace the drivers of a red Ford Fiesta, and a silver-coloured estate car, possibly a taxi, who might have witnessed the crash.

"I would also ask anyone with any dash cam footage or private CCTV which may assist us to contact us."

Those with any information regarding the crash are being urged to contact police on 101 quoting incident 4151 of March 11.
