Heartbroken dog ignored at adoption event as other pooches get attention apart from Bob

Hundreds of animal lovers have lined up to give a dog a permanent home after a heartbreaking video showed him being ignored at an adoption event.

Andrea Caceres, an illustrator, posted a video on TikTok which went viral after showing three-year-old Bob looking for a new owner at Badass Animal Shelter Brooklyn in Central Park, New York on Sunday.

Under Andrea's TikTok name, PetArtByAndrea, she posted a video with the caption: "POV: You are at an adoption event and all the adoptable dogs are getting attention except for... Bob."

The heartbreaking video saw thousands of social media users devastated at the lack of attention Bob was receiving from potential pet owners.

The dog's foster mum Julie Zeilinger confirmed only a handful of people came up to Bob to interact with him but as he's a shy pup he wasn't interested in the attention.

She revealed he's only been with the rescue centre for four months and has just started to warm to the volunteers.

Ms Zeilinger added Bob wasn't popular at the event because it was his first time at an event with lots of people.

She told the Daily Mail: "He was very overwhelmed, and I think people sensed that and wanted to give him space.

"He is an incredibly sweet dog who just wants to love and be loved."

In the heartbreaking video it shows Bob waiting waiting for a family to come over and play with him but the three-year-old is left alone.

The 10-pound terrier can be seen looking at his surroundings as lots of people in the crowd ignore Bob and instead look at other potential dogs.

He then plonks himself on the grass and the volunteer with him pets Bob on the head - as she also looks around the park to see if anyone is interested in him.

Sadly no one appeared as he left the park to return to the adoption centre without a new owner.

But despite the setback Bob just needs a loving owner 'with a lot of patience' according to his foster mum as she admits he's 'very timid'.

The pup would suit a family that lives in a quiet area, according to the rescue centre.

After the video was posted on TikTok on Sunday it has received more than 3.1million views along with thousands of comments of support for Bob.

Over 400,000 users have liked the video and more than 3,000 comments as dog lovers offered to take Bob off their hands.

One user wrote: "Look. I don't cry a lot. But even a vaguely sad story around a dog and I cannot control my tears. I'll hyperventilate."

Another added: "Come on people. Bob is clearly top-tier dog material!!' whilst one user said: "Awwww my poor heart can't take it. The way he's looking around like "what about me."

The support for Bob was overwhelming as one user commented: "If he doesn’t get adopted I will loose my absolute mind. We love Bob."

After the popularity of the video a follow-up video of Bob was posted to TikTok offering more details of the pup.

The caption said: "He often struggles to stay awake and has the cutest little butt pop when he’s feeling frisky."

Bob arrived from a shelter in Georgia in June and has remained with his foster family ever since.

He has been neutered and thanks to the viral video might be one step closer to finding a new home.

Ms Zeilinger wrote in the new video: "He has a lot of applications now thanks to @PetArtByAndrea, but you can apply here!"
