'Heartbreaking loss' as football coach who was 'bedrock' at club dies

Supporters have expressed their sadness after a 'wonderful' Nottinghamshire football coach suddenly died. On Friday, January 6, Newark Town FC issued a statement detailing their devastation at the death of Mark Nesbitt, who was Girls Section Lead for the club.

The volunteer was part of the 'bedrock' of the club, the statement said. There was a large outpouring of grief from supporters on Facebook, who posted tributes.

A spokesperson for Newark Town FC said: "It is with total shock, disbelief and devastation that the club is reporting that Mark Nesbitt, our Girls Section Lead, has died. Mark was the bedrock of a grassroots volunteer, he stopped at nothing to pass on his enthusiasm and zest for football to the youngsters and young adults he nurtured and trained.
