A dementia-stricken OAP lay 'screaming in pain' with a broken hip while waiting almost four hours for an ambulance.

Zhanna Marchenko, 87, tumbled down a set of stairs in the close at her home in Thornliebank, East Renfrewshire, on the evening of March 20.

The 'confused' pensioner was found by a neighbour at around 8.20pm who called for an ambulance to attend.
