New footage of the damage caused by a fire in the historical area of Tallaght Village has emerged.
Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the scene of the flames on Sunday and closed off the road to the public. The blaze gutted the premises of St Dominic's Hall on Main Street in Tallaght beside the Dragon Inn pub.
The building was formerly the home of the old Tallaght Village post office and before that the village hall and had recently been rented out for a daily meeting group. There were five fire engines on the scene including a turntable ladder.

As the flames broke out many shared their memories of the building which also hosted the Tallaght Village credit union when it was first established. Local groups including the youth club and boxing also called the building home in the 70s.
Sharing the footage Dublin Fire Brigade said: "The fire was well developed upon the arrival of firefighters and a turntable ladder was used to expose the roof to extinguish hot spots. Nearby premises were evacuated as a precaution."
