Heartbroken neighbours have spoken of their shock after a woman 'who everyone loved' died in a house fire. Officers were called to Tintern Drive, Whitemoor at 1.28pm on Monday, December 12 after reports of a woman’s sudden death in a house fire.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbouring houses have been evacuated as a precaution.
Grieving neighbours have described the woman as a 'kind and lovely person'. They passed on their condolences to her family at this difficult time.
Janette Gilson, who lives nearby, said the woman was a close friend of hers. She added: "She was very supportive of me after my husband died, seven years ago.

"We used to be good friends. She was always very friendly. "She was known in the area by her neighbours. She was very kind."
Chris Spray, 66, also shared a memory of the woman. The neighbour said: "I was good friends with her husband. I live just around the corner. She would always make us tea. She was very friendly."
Rachel Hall, who went to the scene after hearing what had happened, said: "It is heartbreaking - I just cannot believe it. I used to come to hers for trick and treat."
The 29-years-old added: "She was very sweet. It is shocking and upsetting. I used to trick and treat with my nephews. She would always give us many sweets. People absolutely loved her around here, everyone loved her. She was very friendly."
Local resident Phillip Rogerson passed his condolences to the family, adding: "It is so sad, especially before Christmas. I have lived here for 37 years and we never had an incident like this before."
The 57-year-old said: "It is a quiet area. This is the first major incident that we have had. Obviously I am sending my best wishes and condolences to the family and everyone who knew her."
Jessie Maxwell, 25, a neighbour in the area, added: "It is very sad when someone dies, especially in these circumstances. This is a very quiet street so it just came as a shock."
Jen Mason, a retired residents who has lived in the area since 1982, went on and said: "It is absolutely horrendous. It is the first big incident that we had in the area." The long-term resident, aged in her 70s, added: "It is absolutely heartbreaking. It is such an awful incident. You just never think that it is going to happen next to your doorstep. It happened just before Christmas as well - it is awful."
Fire investigation officers were seen at the scene, and police confirmed that an investigation is underway. Inspector Richard Markham, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The woman’s death is not currently being treated as suspicious.
"Formal identification will be carried out in due course and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Our deepest condolences are with her family and friends at this difficult time who are being supported by specialist officers.”
Group Manager Chris Clark, of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman involved and we send our condolences to them. The fire has been extinguished and a fire investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.”
