A popular pub in County Durham has sadly closed after those who run it said it was "not financially viable".
The George on Bondgate in Darlington announced on Sunday it was closing its doors and that the historic venue will be handed back to the owner. In an emotional statement, they revealed they'd be stepping away from running the pub after six months at the helm.
In the statement, they thanked their customers for all their support but said running the pub was not "financially viable". They also said it started to affect their physical and mental health but wished whoever took over the pub the best.

The statement said: "Sadly this week I've had to make the decision to close The George and hand it back to Admiral Taverns. I'd like to thank everyone that came and supported not only myself, the pub, and the fantastic Pat and her dinner over the last six months but unfortunately it wasn't financially viable.
"It started to affect my health physically and mentally and I'd like to wish who ever takes over next all the best but and hope to see some of your faces round at my other pub The Three Crowns. From me and the team thank you."
Gutted customers rushed to share their sadness with one commenting: "Best pub in Darlington, very welcoming bar, people are fantastic, you've done a great job, gonna miss going in there on the weekend- best of luck," while another said: "Sorry to hear this. Wishing you good health and all the best for the future".
