Heartbreak as 'brave' mum, 33, dies months after cancer diagnosis

Tributes have been paid to a mum-of-two who has died just months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Doctors initially put Danielle Tara Harker's pain down to Crohn's Disease which she had been living with since the age of 17. However, the 33-year-old later received the devastating news that she had stage four bowel cancer.

Danielle, from Burnley, Lancashire, was mother to Shae, three and Arlo, two, and had been married to Anthony Harker since 2017, Lancs Live reports. Tributes to the popular mother have flooded on social media as friends and relatives remembered a 'dear friend' who 'always went the extra mile'.

Her heartbroken father, Mark Folley wrote: "I cannot put into words how I feel. I dropped the kids off at nursery this morning, then drove to the funeral home where Danielle is. I stood there with my hands on the door of the building, just so that Danielle would know she was not alone. Broken."

Another wrote on Facebook: "My dear friend Danielle Tara Harker our gorgeous girl, our treasure, the way you lit up a room, our lives will never be the same without you!

"The love, support, inspiration you were for us all! Thank you for always finding time for every one of us and our families, always problem solving for us helping us through our bad times pushing us forward pulling us from our dark days, our choc stop dates, teaching me to pout (you made me a pro)the funny stories we shared.

"Thank you for it all! thank you for being you, our treasure and sunshine rest in peace beautiful. You have forever made an impact on many lives and we will miss you so, so much.

"A beautiful mother, wife, daughter sister and friend. Love & thoughts with all your family Anthony Harker, Mark Folley, Suzi Folley, Tom Folley."

Brave Danielle had fought through six rounds of chemotherapy, which was made even harder as her Crohn's Disease means she is already immuno-compromised. This difficulty led her to develop septicaemia and other terrible bouts as a reaction to the treatment.

Her mother, Suzi Folley, set up a GoFundMe page in order to raise money for her children. So far, more than £20,000 has been raised for them to "enjoy holidays, experiences and life."

However, it was in early March that Danielle decided to stop chemotherapy after nearly losing her life to one of the rounds of treatment. In the latter stages of her battle, Danielle resided at Pendleside Hospice in Burnley, a place Suzi described as "a peaceful haven for Danielle".

Following her death, Preston-based business Milly and Bloom Photography also paid tribute to Danielle by posting: "To Danielle, you were such an amazing person inside and out, you always went the extra mile to help even in the dark times you were faced with, you still had such amazing advice and still found time to check in and always make sure I was OK.

"You are the bravest lady I have ever had the pleasure to meet, my heart is aching, you will be so badly missed by not just me but everyone who had the pleasure of meeting you, you gave a real good fight, go rest with the angels beautiful."

Another Facebook user posted: "If only you could have survived off love alone. You would live forever.

"I’m so thankful you took so many pictures and videos so we can watch and feel your presence forever, you’ve left a huge hole in our family. Thank you for making my brother so happy, thank you for giving us those two beautiful children that you will live on through. Thank you for teaching me so many things in life.

"I promise to always be there we will keep your smile and laugh in our hearts forever. You were truly inspirational, until we meet again beautiful. You're at peace now."
