The star captioned her post: “Our Lol, our first family dog. Loyal to the core. It'll be so strange without you.” Vicky shared four pictures of Lollipop, one of which showed her sweetly putting her paw on a toy bone.

The actor added: “Reunited with her sister Molly now. Rest well Lollipop. Love always.” Another picture showed Lollipop and Molly, who are both Bichon Frisés, sitting together on a sofa.

Two other snaps showed Vicky with Lollipop. In the comments, Vicky's celebrity friends were quick to show their support.

TV presenter Gaby Roslin said: “I am so so sorry my lovely. Sending hugs hugs.” And Game of Thrones star Kate Dickie wrote: “Ohh hugs abound.”

Detectorists actor Laura Checkly commented: “Oh I'm so sorry babe xx” And Shetland and Noughts + Crosses star Rakie Ayola added: “Aw Lovely sorry for your loss.”

Vicky was similarly heartbroken when Molly died in 2018, saying at the time that she was “absolutely gutted” at the passing of the “one of a kind” dog. She had said that the whole family would miss Molly, “especially her sister” Lollipop.

Reacting to the death of Lollipop, fans extended their sympathy as well. Ann wrote: “Sending lots of love and hugs so sorry.” And Vicki said: “I'm so sorry. Sending love.”

Sarah also “sent love” and Emma added: “So sorry for your loss. Xx”

Vicky is active on Instagram, and recently posted a clip of the choir she supports for people with dementia. The touching clip showed the choir singing Bob Marley's 'Everything's Gonna Be Alright' with Vicky excitedly joining in.

The choir is based in Nottingham and took part in a two-part documentary with Vicky in 2018. The actor is aware of the impact of dementia, having cared for her grandmother who had the condition and died in 2015.
