Heart-stopping moment Edinburgh dirt bike rider caught pulling wheelie with child

The heart-stopping moment a man caught pulling stunts on a dirt bike with a child on board has been captured by a concerned Edinburgh resident.

The reckless footage was filmed on the city's busy Broomhouse Road on Tuesday afternoon, with the individual pulling a wheelie while a young boy was gripping onto the handlebars in front of him.

The dash cam footage was posted on social media and as the Daily Record reports, the man can be seen dressed wearing a black jacket and dark green trousers.

The youngster wearing an orange jacket is seen sitting at the front of the off-road bike with his legs sticking out around the front wheel. The anonymous source who captured the worrying footage believed the bike was travelling around 30mph.

A source hit out at the adult driver and branded it "a reckless act of stupidity." They added: "There have been a lot of problems with reckless and antisocial driving in the Sighthill and Broomhouse areas of Edinburgh - and many other places.

"I've seen people street racing scrap cars and there have been several incidents of off-road bikes being ridden illegally and dangerously - but this was a new one to me.

"This guy is always out riding his dirt bike recklessly, but on this occasion it was slightly different. He had a passenger along for the ride.

"While doing a wheelie at 30mph, he had a young boy sitting with him, balanced on the fuel tank and his legs sticking out over the front wheel.

"I mean there is stupid and then there's stupid. It's one thing putting himself in danger- but now he's endangering a child? Not okay."

It's not believed the incident was reported to police. Police Scotland were approached for comment.
