Healthcare jobs being advertised in Newcastle, including PIP assessor, dental nurse and carers

A range of jobs within the healthcare sector are being advertised in the North East.

From PIP assessors, to dental nurses and bank staff, there are a variety of roles with salaries ranging from £10.50 per hour to £47,000 per year.

The opportunities include working at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, the Freeman Hospital Newcastle and in the community.

PIP Assessor

Salary: £35,000 to £37,000

The role of a PIP Assessor is to undertake telephone assessments for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) on the behalf of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

You will be required to analyse and interpret clinical information and medical evidence relating to the claimant’s functional ability and provide a comprehensive report in a concise and professional manner. You will be working autonomously however your colleagues and the clinical management team are always on hand to provide support.

The role is suited to those with a broad clinical knowledge and previous experience of assessing/report writing although full training is provided.

Administration assistant - bank

Salary: £20,270 to £21,318 pro rata

The Newcastle Hospitals and Community Services Staff Bank provide temporary staff to various wards and departments across the Trust.

The trust is looking for experienced administrators to join our team of valued bank staff.

The availability of bank work can fluctuate and whilst there is no commitment to work a specific number of hours, applications are sought from individuals who are looking for regular work.

Care navigator/call handler

Salary: £10.50 per hour

Process and effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition.

Book appointments for patients and cancel where needed.

Healthcare Science Associate

Salary: £23,949 to £26,282 per year

The department of Microbiology and Virology at the Freeman Hospital is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our department.

The successful applicants will work as part of a team carrying out a range of analytical procedures using both automated and manual techniques.

Comprehensive training will be provided and future personal development is actively encouraged.

Clerical Officer

Salary: £20, 270 to £21,318

An opportunity to work for the Emergency Department based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable staff to join our very busy team.

You will be required to provide administrative support within the main Emergency Department, ED Observation Ward and Minor Injury Unit.

Excellent inter-personal and organisational skills are essential as you will be first point of contact for patients, staff and visitors.

Healthcare Assistant

Salary: £21,730 to £23,177

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated healthcare assistant who can work flexibly to support the wider Children's Community Nursing Service to deliver healthcare to children with complex health needs, life limiting/threatening conditions, end of life care and acute healthcare needs across Newcastle.

The Children's Community Nursing Team works across Newcastle supporting children with health needs in their own homes, nursery, school and community settings.

Radiotherapy scheduling officer

Salary: £21,730 to £23,177

The Northern Centre for Cancer Care is one of the country's leading cancer treatment facilities located in a purpose built centre at Freeman Hospital.

Applications are invited for the position of Radiotherapy Scheduling Officer within the Radiotherapy service.

The post holder will be responsible for receiving referrals and scheduling patients for in-patient and out-patient radiotherapy for cancer.

A key feature of the post will be to act as the link between the patients, oncology wards, consultants, planning department, chemotherapy outpatients, treatment machines and secretaries in coordinating the treatment plan for each patient ensuring cancer targets are not breached.

Community Nurse Practitioner

Salary: £41,659 to £47,672

The post holder will undertake comprehensive assessment of the physical and psycho-social care needs of frail patients who may also have complex chronic disease. Formulating a clinical management plan.

This will involve gathering and interpreting information, performing tests and analysing the results, arranging onward referral if deemed necessary.

They will coordinate care and services to be delivered within primary care for patients during an acute episode of illness also if appropriate supporting discharge from hospital. Working in partnership with primary, secondary care and other appropriate agencies, including the voluntary sector.

They will be responsible to prescribe safe effective and appropriate medication as defined by legislative framework and/or agreed protocols and guidelines.

Dental Nurse

Salary: £23,949 to £26,282

Based at Newcastle Dental Hospital, you will work alongside and assist with Prosthodontic and Restorative treatment lists with a wide range of qualified staff and students.

Working on Level 5 of the Dental Hospital within the Prosthodontic Clinic you will be required to work on various treatment and new patient consultation clinics ranging from student treatment, junior staff treatment lists, STR/Consultant treatment lists and specialty clinics such as the Oncology Support Clinic.

You may be required to work on other dental departments within the Dental Hospital to cover absences at certain times.

Dispensary Manager

Salary: £33,706 to £40,588

The Newcastle Hospital Trust is looking to recruit pharmacy dispensing managers into the trust wide pharmacy team.

You will be manage our Northern Centre For Cancer Care -Outsourced Cytotoxic Product Dispensary based at Freeman Hospital. The role will work closely with and complement our busy aseptic cytotoxic units.

You will be a GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician.

As an accredited accuracy checker you will release ready-made bought in chemotherapy products for our oncology wards and clinics and distribute across Trust sites.

You will establish appropriate procedures, stock monitoring and rotation processes as well as safe systems for handling including procedures. You will facilitate ordering from suppliers working to ensure appropriate stock levels and minimise wastage.

Care Assistant

Salary: £9.50 to £10.50 per hour

Care provider Solehawk is looking for care assistants who will work as part of a team who are responsible for providing daily support to our residents to help maintain and improve, where possible, independence and mobility.

You will continually monitor resident care, ensuring individualised care throughout and maintenance of accurate and up to date records.

You will assist residents to carry out their activities of living e.g., dressing, eating and bathing.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential.

Previous experience of working within a care environment is essential.

Full training and support will be provided on commencement of post.
