Health care added 372,000 jobs over the past year, about three of every four new jobs in the U.S. economy, according to figures in a new Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker brief. Hiring in the sector slowed in September, but health care still accounted for most of the month's job gains.
The trend reaches into millions of households. Health care jobs support families in nearly every community, and the same growth reflects rising demand for care as the population ages.
