So, the Outlander showrunners have finally cast Jamie Fraser's 'secret' son William Ransom and creator Diana Gabaldon couldn't be happier.
Following the news that Canadian actor Charles Vandervaart had been chosen to play Jamie's grown-up son, fans rushed to Twitter to ask the Outlander author's thoughts.
Happy to answer questions, Diana described Lost in Space star Charles as a "wonderful choice", when asked what she thought of his casting.
She wrote: "I have indeed seen Charles's auditions--he's wonderful!"
When asked whether his attempt at a British accent was good, the writer said that it was "perfect", from what she'd seen.
She was also taking no complaints either when one fan posted: "I just wish he was redhead!"
Diana curtly responded: "William doesn't have red hair."
Another query about the colour of his eyes was also dealt with deftly, with the Outlander creator confirming he has blue eyes naturally, like his father, Jamie.
She also joked that her husband had a pithy response when he saw the young actor's name for the first time.
Apparently, his first remark was: "I wonder how long it will be until they start calling him "Vanderfart?"
Speaking about the casting Diana wrote: "Yes, I saw his auditions – both the scene in which he confronts Claire, right after his horrifying discovery at #17 Chestnut Street, and the semi-drunken but honorable [sic] (and very funny) conversation with Arabella/Jane, in which he assures her that she can sing songs or stand on her head, but he doesn't propose to molest her."
Adding that he was "great" in them, she stated that she'd also seen him alongside Sophie and that they honestly look enough alike to be siblings, though with "different colouration".
However, one personal reason she admitted for loving the casting, was that Charles was the voice of Sid the Pirate on Paw Patrol, a show her little grandsons are very fond of.
What do you think? Do you like the casting?
