"He's been great" - how Alejandro Garnacho is impressing Manchester United teammates

Manchester United's Victor Lindelof has praised the impact Alejandro Garnacho can make in matches from the bench.

Garnacho, 18, started on the bench at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon as United took on Fulham. The scoreline was 1-1 and the points looked set to be shared in the match, but Garnacho was substituted on and scored the winning goal for the visitors in stoppage time.

Garnacho is highly regarded at the club and Erik ten Hag has gradually handed him more minutes over the last month. Garnacho has taken his chances when given the opportunity and his goal against Fulham was his latest contribution to the first-team.

Lindelof started at Craven Cottage and he discussed what has impressed him about Garnacho after the 2-1 victory.

“I think he's been great in the past couple of weeks when he's got his chances to play and once again, he showed his qualities today,” Lindelof told United's in-house media. “He came on and made a difference and that's exactly what we need from all the players.

“If you're not playing, you have to come in and make a difference and that's what he did. It was a great game, but it was a tough game, We controlled the game quite well in the first half, but in the second half we lost a few balls, and they created a few chances.

“But we fought until the end and managed to get the goal. [It’s] just fantastic to get the three points. We should've got a few more points [from our matches] but I think we've been playing quite well.

“I think this win was massive for us before the break. Hopefully when everyone is back [after the break], we are ready to go again.”
