- Spain were awarded a penalty in the first half of their World Cup semi-final against France after full-back Lucas Digne was ruled to have fouled Lamine Yamal in the box.
- Digne attempted to bring the ball down after a deep cross from Marc Cucurella but he did not see Yamal behind him.
- Yamal then got to ball first, with Digne’s wild swing catching the Barcelona winger on the lower thigh.
- The penalty was converted by Spain forward Mikel Oyarzabal to put them 1-0 up.
- ITV pundit Gary Neville criticised Digne in the aftermath. “He’s got to be aware of where he is, that he (Yamal) is going to gamble,” Neville said. “He doesn’t even know he’s there. He hasn’t got a clue.”
